The CheckUP Forum

This event is being run by AuSAE's Member CheckUP - Advancing primary healthcare

The CheckUP Forum is being held on Friday 2 September, and will bring together innovative thinkers and industry experts to kick-start conversations about the future of healthcare.

The theme of the CheckUP Forum this year is #health2020 and will focus on the disruptive changes on the horizon that will transform healthcare as we currently know it.

The evening before the Forum, CheckUP will be holding a Networking Dinner, which is an excellent opportunity to mix with familiar faces as well as make new connections in a relaxed, social environment.

The CheckUP Forum will be facilitated by the well-respected and thought-provoking Dr Norman Swan and will comprise three interactive sessions:

Session 1: The Art of the Possible

The first session will feature three dynamic keynote addresses from:

  • Monica Bradley - an engaging speaker with exceptional strategy and advisory experience who invests time and energy innovating in the digital economy.
  • Dr Louise Schaper - the CEO of the Health Informatics Society of Australia who will challenge us to think about #health2020 as health, but not as we know it.
  • Plus we will hear from a guest speaker who will present the global perspective on the impact of disruption and change in healthcare.

Session One will conclude with a Q&A session where you can pose your questions to the three keynote speakers.

Session 2: Here and Now

After morning tea you will chose one of two concurrent sessions that focus on what is happening today to help prepare us for #health2020:

  • Concurrent A - Commissioning for value

Facilitated by two international experts from Ernst & Young, this practical masterclass will explore the collaborative approach to partnering and help answer questions about the data you need to make the right decisions when commissioning and provide advice on how to measure the impact that you've made.

  • Concurrent B - Transforming frontline service delivery

This session will be facilitated by the Australian Healthcare and Hospitals Association (AHHA) and will give you the opportunity to engage with three organisations that are going through a period of transformation and innovation in response to a changing healthcare environment. You will hear from Glen McIntyre from Lifestyle Therapies and Training Solutions (LTTS), Alice Evans from True Relationships (formerly Family Planning Queensland) and a presenter from a leading disability organisation.

Session 3: Postcards from the Future (Panel Discussion)

At the conclusion of a networking lunch with the other delegates, we will all gather back together for a lively panel discussion facilitated by Dr Norman Swan that will focus on how the forces of disruptive change will impact on the most important person in the healthcare system - the patient.

Six highly engaging panelists representing six leading health and community organisations will discuss how we can collaborate for better patient-centred care, and they will look to the horizon to hypothesise what patients would write on a postcard if they were to describe their experience with the health care system in 2020.

The CheckUP Forum will conclude at 3:30pm, and you will then have another opportunity to mix socially with colleagues from the health and community sectors with Networking Drinks to end the day.

Registration for the CheckUP Forum and Networking Dinner is now open. Get in quick for early bird rates that end on 5 August.
