About the role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll be a key member of ACA's national management team and lead a diverse team of communications and member-facing professionals. Your portfolio is broad and interesting. You'll provide leadership across marketing, member communications, brand, digital and social media, publications, events, stakeholder engagement and advertising, while helping ensure ACA communicates with a strong, consistent and trusted voice. Importantly, you'll play a central role in how we communicate the profession's transition to National Standards for Counsellors and Psychotherapists. Supporting and informing our members through the change, and guiding ACA's comms through the transition and beyond.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and deliver communications and marketing strategies that strengthen ACA's brand, reputation and member engagement
- Lead, coach and bring together a multidisciplinary team of five, alongside specialist external providers
- Translate complex policy, professional and organisational information into engaging member communications
- Drive digital, social and content strategies that grow reach and engagement
- Oversee ACA's website, publications, campaigns and member communication channels
- Lead communications around emerging issues, sensitive matters and organisational change
- Work closely with the CEO and national management team on priorities, messaging and stakeholder engagement
- Oversee promotion and communications supporting ACA events, conferences and partnerships
- Identify opportunities to grow advertising, publications, jobs-board and partnership activity
- Build strong relationships with members, employers, media, industry partners and other stakeholders
About you
- Already succeeding in a senior communications, marketing, engagement or brand role and ready for an opportunity where your work has genuine national reach
- Strong judgement and excellent written communication
- An instinct for what makes audiences engage
- Comfortable advising senior leaders and managing competing priorities
- Able to communicate when the subject matter is complex or sensitive
- A people leader who knows how to create clarity, build confidence, set high standards and bring the best out of a diverse team
- Experience in a membership organisation, peak body, professional association, health, allied health, education or similarly complex stakeholder environment would be highly regarded
